Alice Adams Gets New POD DVD Release

A few weeks ago, I reported that Vintage Books’ “Movie Classics” imprint had released a new line of reprints of “the source material that inspired a number of iconic Hollywood films.” The first grouping of four novels in the series included Tarkington’s Alice Adams.

Following almost oddly on the heels of that development is the late-May inclusion of the 1935 Kate Hepburn-starring adaptation of Alice Adams in the Warner Archive made-to-order DVD collection. Their description:

Academy Award-winner Katharine Hepburn received an Oscar-nomination as a working-class small-town girl with social ambitions who falls in love with wealthy playboy Fred MacMurray.

The DVD is priced at $14.95.

The free Warner Archive Collection Podcast on iTunes has a little more to say about the release, if you are interested. Follow this link and look for the May 6 entry.

The Warner Archive Facebook Page has also got a great lobby card posted from the original release!
